Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are engaged to manage the work of others or to add value to or review management practices. Their role may be in any industry or organisational setting.

Typically people in these roles will have considerable experience in their respective industries or vocational areas and combine an informed perspective of specific work requirements with their managerial approaches.

The qualification requires a sound theoretical knowledge base and managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate own work or the work of a team.

Course Units

Manage quality customer service- develop strategies to manage organisational systems that ensure products and services are delivered and maintained to standards agreed by the organisation

Develop a workplace learning environment- encourage and support the development of strategies to facilitate and promote a learning environment and to monitor and improve learning performance.

Manage people performance- manage the performance of staff who report to them directly by development of key result areas and key performance indicators and standards, coupled with regular and timely coaching and feedback, provide the basis for performance management.

Manage operational plan- develop and monitor implementation of the operational plan to provide efficient and effective workplace practices within the organisation's productivity and profitability plans.

Facilitate continuous improvement- to lead and manage continuous improvement systems and the analysis of information to monitor and adjust performance strategies, and to manage opportunities for further improvements.

Ensure a safe workplace- establish, maintain and evaluate the organisation's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area in accordance with OHS legal requirements.

Support the recruitment, selection and induction of staff- execute tasks associated with the recruitment cycle.

Manage workforce planning- plan workforce strategies to achieve organisational goals and objectives.

Pathways into the qualification

Preferred pathways for candidates considering this qualification include:

  • BSB40807 Certificate IV in Frontline Management or other relevant qualification


  • with vocational experience but without formal supervision or management qualification.

Pathways from the qualification

  • BSB60407 Advanced Diploma of Management or other Advanced Diploma qualifications

Fees & Charges 2013

Oz Skills Careers College will not take any fee payments from students prior to them commencing the course.

Depending on the student’s eligibility for state and government funding, an administration fee of 15% is to be agreed upon by the student and Oz Skills, prior to the course being commenced.

Where a fee for service charge applies, Oz Skills requires a total amopunt of $3,000.00 to be paid by an agreed payment schedule between student and Oz Skills.

There will be 3 equal $1,000.00installments to be paid, first on enrolment, second on commencement of unit 4 and third on completion of training. 

Where an employer pays fees on behalf of a participant, the employer is to be invoiced for the appropriate fee and will need to enter an employer agreement with Oz Skills Careers College.
